  • Differentiate between common and emergent causes of abdominal pain across pediatric age groups.

  • Understand age-specific presentations and identify red flags indicative of surgical emergencies such as intussusception, volvulus, and appendicitis.

  • Conduct a systematic pediatric abdominal examination:
    Learn effective techniques for assessing abdominal pain in children, including observation, distraction methods, and appropriate physical examination maneuvers.

  • Identify signs and symptoms of conditions like appendicitis, mesenteric lymphadenitis, testicular torsion, and ovarian torsion, and understand the role of imaging and laboratory tests in diagnosis.

  • Apply tools such as the Pediatric Appendicitis Score (PAS) to stratify risk and guide management decisions.

  • Develop treatment plans based on the severity and etiology of the condition, including indications for surgical intervention and supportive care measures.
