Master Clinicians Lecture Series - Learn Online Now

Horrible PMS is not normal! What psychiatric meds can you take while pregnant? How do you treat women with Depression, ADHD and BiPolar disease? Learn from our expert Psychiatrist from Mount Sinai and Columbia University as she goes over the latest guidance and recommendation for these cases in women health.

Topics Covered in the

Lecture

Mental Health in Women

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and ADHD in women are common presentations seen in primary care, outpatient clinics and urgent cares. ADHD medication usage has surged 300% in reproductive aged women during the early 2000’s. Knowing how to recognize the signs, diagnosing early and offering appropriate treatment for all these disorders is important. Being able to answer common questions regarding medication and mental health during pregnancy and pre-conception planning for your female patient is crucial. How often do relapse occur if they stopped their meds?

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, the learner will be able to:

  • Understand and recognize typical presentation of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, as well as diagnosis and treatment

  • Be able to identify risks and benefits of continuing psychiatric medication through pregnancy and current major recommendations/guidelines

  • Know the presentation and epidemiology of depression in women, and its pharmacological and non-pharmacologic treatment options.

**Please note that this lecture will also be part of the Women Health Lecture Series Course Bundle**
