Laceration Repair Workshop (5 CME hours)


Spend half the day focusing on learning the approach to common laceration and wound management like a seasoned Emergency Medicine clinician. In this hands on course, you will learn and identify the most common types of lacerations and wounds presenting in the ER, urgent care and/or a family practice clinic.


Learn and perform 5+ suturing techniques including simple interrupted stitches, continuous stitches, buried stitches, vertical mattress, and horizontal mattress.


Learn about approaches to simple and complex lacerations (with irregular borders or flaps)


Learn about anesthesia technique depending on the wound presentation


Use various suturing materials and practice on various simulation models and items (pig’s feet, silicone model, etc).

Indications for alternative closure techniques including stapling, medical adhesive glue, and other wound closure products.


Proper pre-wound assessment, appropriate antibiotic usage, and post wound closure management will be reviewed.

Identify which wounds can be treated and managed in your practice and which require specialist care.



Orthopedic Splinting Workshop (5 CME hours)


Spend half the day focusing on learning proper technique to splinting common orthopedic injuries using fiberglass and plaster. In this hands on course, you will learn the most common splints used in the ER, urgent care and/or a family practice clinic and practice on each other.


1- Learn and perform multiple splinting techniques for ankle and foot injuries including posterior short leg and long leg molds, stirrup splint, air cast and more


2- Learn and perform multiple splinting techniques for elbow, wrist, hand and finger injuries including sugar tong splint, volar splint, thumb spica splint, ulnar gutter splint, etc.


3- Learn about approaches to using slings, crutches, and walkers



EKG Workshop (5 CME hours)


Spend a half day focusing on learning the approach to reading an EKG like a seasoned Emergency Medicine Clinician. As a clinician working in family practice clinics, urgent care, or emergency rooms, you will develop an understanding of which EKG can be referred to a specialist the next day and which ones require immediate intervention. In this course, you will go through several team based exercises on EKGinterpretation and learn systematic approaches to reading both in an acute care setting. You will review multiple case presentations and 50+ EKGs on the following:


Review on EKG basics such as EKG physiology, axis, voltage and anatomy.


Common and life threatening arrhythmia's and heart blocks such as Afib/flutter, SVT, Bundle branch blocks and 2nd/3rd degree heart blocks.


Various types of EKG presentations in a myocardial infarction depending on the location of the heart affected.

EKG findings for various disease processes such as electrolyte abnormalities like hyper/hypokalemia, hypothermia, and more.


Subtle life threatening EKG findings like pulmonary embolus, ST elevated MI, Brugada Syndrome, deWinters, and more.


Understand which findings can be treated in the doctors office and which findings require immediate ER/specialty care



Xray Workshop (5 CME hours)

Spend a half day focusing on best approach to reading common X-rays like a seasoned Emergency Medicine Clinician. As a clinician working in family practice clinics, urgent care, or emergency rooms, you will develop a systematic approach to reviewing X-rays and learn to not miss critical findings. In this course, you will go through several team based exercises on Xray interpretation and learn systematic approaches to reading in an acute care setting. You will review multiple case presentations and 50+ X-rays on the following:


Identify common and life threatening diagnosis on chest including pneumonia, pneumothorax, congestive heart failure, aortic abnormalities, pulmonary embolism, and more


Identify common and life threatening diagnosis on abdominal Xray including volvulus, small bowel obstruction, free air under the diaphragm, foreign body ingestion and more


Identify soft tissue neck X-rays such as retropharyngeal abscess, epiglottitis, foreign body ingestion and more.


Understand which findings can be treated in the doctors office and which findings require immediate ER/specialty care

Understand which findings look suspicious and may require a second read or re-shoot.
